Driver's view of Newton Abbot

This video provides a driver’s view of Dawlish in OO including sound effects!

This is the first driver’s view of Dawlish in OO to include the Kingswear extension. You’ll also see that Newton Abbot East box has been added.

The filming has been done with a GoPro Hero Session 4 on a low loader wagon – the latter being required to ensure that the camera went under all the bridges and tunnels!

After leaving the main fiddleyard, the train progresses behind Newton Abbot station before bursting out on to the seawall where it passes Alderley Hall on a up freight.

After the tunnels, it enters Newton Abbot station, with a down local stopping train behind Nunney Castle in the other down platform. As we exit Newton Abbot, we can see Peter’s brewery on the right and an additional west goods shed on the left (see photo above). After these it is on to Aller Juntion where in my railway, the right hand tracks head to Torbay (design reasons!) rather than the left hand tracks in real life.

The train then climbs above the main fiddleyard before reaching the Torbay fiddleyard. This is used to hold trains between Kingswear and Newton Abbot for the required journey time to ensure correct timings at those two stations. It also holds any trains that terminate / start at Paignton.

Finally we progress along the single line to Kingswear which is the end of the driver’s view of Dawlish in OO for this journey.
