Anyrail Track Plans for Newton Abbot

This page shows the track plans for different components of my Dawlish, Newton Abbot and Kingswear model railway in OO gauge. They have been developed in Anyrail. To get a driver’s eye view of the layout end to end, view my “A tour of Dawlish in OO” post.

The first diagram shows the main fiddleyard at the bottom. Trains from Paddington and the North exit to the bottom right, proceed around the top and then enter bottom left onto the seawall and on to Dawlish. Trains can then circulate as many times as required until they exit at the junction which is about 5 feet in from the right and 3 feet up from the bottom towards Newton Abbot.

The second diagram shows Newton Abbot and Aller Junction. Trains from Dawlish enter from the bottom right as detailed above; proceeding right to left, trains exit via Aller Junction. A difference from the real line is that the Torbay branch is to the right and Plymouth / Penzance to the left. Note also that Moretonhampstead trains enter from the right j to the right of the number 16 – either accessing the bay platform to the top right or any of the top 4 throujgh lines. In my version of Newton Abbot, Southern trains from Exeter via Crediton also access Newton Abbot via this line.

Finally, the Torbay and Kingswear sections. This entered via Aller Junction (running under Kingswear). Currently (as of April 2nd 2024) the layout terminates at the Torbay fiddleyard – Kingswear will be built upon completion of more of the scenic work around Newton Abbot.
