The main news is that the extension to Kingswear is now well underway. Attached is a photo of the main station board. The end of the board nearest the picture is about 2/3 of the way along the platform with the approach tracks shown beyond. The grain wagon is stood in the goods shed siding – perhaps Peter’s brewery in Newton Abbot is importing some grain? You can also see where the turntable will go.
The overall length, including the track sweeping around to the right is around 11 feet which means some compromises have been made to the track plan and it is of course much shorter than the real thing. Nevertheless, I should be able to fit 6-coach trains into the main platform. My main goal is creating a layout that is both fun and challenging to operate rather than recreation of an exact replica of the main thing, so I’m happy with that. Hopefully I’ll be able to report on the first train arriving at Kingswear in the next month or so.
