According to YouTube, 17,315 people have viewed “A Tour of my Dawlish Model Railway” as of 28th March 2024. I’m not sure what I did to suddenly attract so many viewers, but thanks to all those who posted nice comments. These comments included:
“I must say, very nice, as someone who used to drive through Dawlish with SWT on my way to Paignton. Very smooth running too ” Lucky man!
“I presume you haven’t yet added the signal box which sat in front of the goods shed . My grandfather used to collect parcels from that shed with his lorry . I use the station most days and you would hardly recognise it now !” It’s on the to do list – I have some photos from my time at Exeter Uni which I’ll have to dig out.
“Essence of Dawlish! I’m guessing for true realism, once every few years you could chuck a bucket of water over it and spend a few months not running trains while you repaired it.” Note the photos above were not taken from my model railway!
Having now got a few subscribers on YouTube, I guess I ought to do a bit more filming. I’ll try to take on board the helpful suggestions such as putting the camera at the front of the wagon and smiling for the camera.
The good news is that video was actually recorded over a year ago and there as been some progress since then so watch this space! In the meantime, if you’ve not watched it, click the image below (sorry for lack of smile).
